Message from the Board: March 2021

By | Board Correspondence, From the RCHCA Officers, Meetings, Newsletters, Online Directory, RCHCA Biz, Social Events, Volunteer

Good Morning Rock Creek Hills neighbors,

Spring is arriving to our beautiful neighborhood, and we are looking forward to warmer days, blooming daffodils, and returning songbirds to our backyards and local parks.

If you are reading this email, you are on the Rock Creek Hills listserv, one of many community services funded by the yearly $40 per household contribution to the Rock Creek Hills Citizens’ Association.

We are reaching out to you now to ask for your annual contribution. The fastest and easiest way to pay your household dues is to click on this link, http://rchca.org/. If you are able, please consider donating more than the standard $40 dues to support your neighborhood, as the cost of providing services has increased over time and our dues level has remained constant for many years.

The Rock Creek Hills Citizens’ Association Board uses your contributions to provide all routine Association costs, including:

·        Beautifying and maintaining our neighborhood traffic circles, which work historically has been done largely by community volunteers using supplies paid for by the Citizen’s Association but which increasingly must be performed by contractors as our volunteers have had to step back from their prior — and very-much-appreciated — physical contributions.

·        Funding our spring and fall neighborhood parties, which we expect will return later this year.

·        Paying for the neighborhood listserv, where we can share community forum and updates about events and community concerns.

·        Producing a hard-copy Neighborhood Directory every several years.

·        Maintaining an online Neighborhood Directory, which is regularly updated.

·        Sponsoring two yearly business meetings with important presentations on issues impacting the neighborhood, such as new water lines and construction projects affecting our community. Please note that your dues payment qualifies you to vote on community decisions made at these meetings.

·        Monitoring and enforcing the neighborhood covenants, which maintain the special park-like appeal of Rock Creek Hills.

These services support our entire community and provide value to every homeowner in our neighborhood. We ask every household to please support these services by contributing. You can pay online today at http://rchca.org/. You also can mail or drop off a check for $40 (or more) payable to RCHCA, attention Treasurer John Robinson, 9616 Old Spring Road Kensington, MD 20895

The Rock Creek Hills Citizens’ Association Board and its overlapping covenants-enforcement board are all-volunteer organizations managed by members of this community. If you are interested doing more to support our neighborhood, or have ideas for ways to improve our community, please share your thoughts by email to the Citizens’ Association Board at:  board@rchca.org.

Thank you for your contributions to RCHCA and to our wonderful neighborhood. They are greatly appreciated.

Sincerely yours,

Peter Chatfield

RCHCA President

P.S. If you are interested in a colorful “Welcome to Our Neighborhood” yard sign, we have a few more for sale for $15. Contact jjpekar@gmail.com to get yours.

By | Directory, Online Directory, RCHCA Biz

With the new RCHCA Online Directory program, in addition to making changes to your household’s data and looking up your neighbor’s contact info, you may now also use the online application to promote local services and your own personal know-how to help out your fellow neighbors! With Vendor Referrals, you can submit information about companies you love and would recommend to others. Through N2N Services, (Neighbor 2 Neighbor) you can offer to help your neighbors through babysitting, yard work, house-sitting, and other helpful neighborly resources! The information posted in these areas is not monitored and may be viewed by all those with access to the Online Directory. (RCHCA reserves the right to delete inappropriate services posted.)

To access the OnLine Directory and Services application click here. You must have a username and password to log in.  If you do not already have a username and password, please email me (hoxiesam@gmail.com) with your name & address and I will email your login information to you.

Once logged in, click on the My Household tab to review and make any necessary edits to your dwelling and/or personal information. Use the My Directory tab to begin looking up your neighbors quickly and conveniently! Click on the Services & Sponsors tab to add your services or a vendor recommendation for all to see. And, in the near future you will be able to click on the Purchases tab to pay your 2015 dues online (we are still ironing out kinks in this one – stay tuned!).

Hopefully you did receive the bright yellow letter that was mailed last month which contained the information we currently have on file for your household. Please take the time to verify your information and update it through the online access or send me any corrections via email or USPS (9711 E Bexhill Drive, Kensington MD 20895). We anticipate printing an updated directory in early 2015 and want the information contained in it to be as accurate as possible.

Please feel free to email me with any questions!

Edit & View Rock Creek Hills Directory Information OnLine!

By | Directory, Online Directory, RCHCA Biz

Dear Neighbors,

In an effort to make our Rock Creek Hills Citizens’ Association member directory as accurate and user-friendly as possible, we are implementing a new web-based directory system, which will allow you to edit your own dwelling and personal information in real time, as well as view directory information online! This will ensure that you always have access to the latest and greatest information! For those that prefer the print directory – don’t worry it will not be going away. We plan on using the remainder of 2014 to get our directory data as accurate as possible before printing in early 2015.

If you are interested in purchasing advertising in the printed directory, please contact Wendi Kaplan at 410-812-7678 or email Wendi at Wendi@atozdirectories.com for more information.

For those of you who we have email addresses for in our RCHCA database, you should have received an email with steps on how to access this online directory. We will also be sending instructions through regular mail in the coming weeks.

Click here to Access the RCHCA Online Directory.  A login is required.  If you did not receive an email and want access to the web-based directory, please email Sam Hoxie  to obtain your Username and directions for logging in. (Include your name and address in the email and indicate that you need your username for the Online Directory.)

For individuals who are not comfortable on a computer or who have no internet access, we are happy to make the changes for you. Please mail or email your household information to Sam (hoxiesam@gmail.com, 9711 E. Bexhill Drive, Kensington MD 20895). Be sure to include your street address, the name of the individuals in your household and any other pertinent information (phone, email, etc.) you want included. Our new system allows for a main phone number for the household, but also provides for cell number, work phone, personal email, work email for each individual in your home. You can provide as much or as little information as you desire, and you also have the option to opt-out of the printed directory and/or the online directory.

Feel free to email with any questions. Thanks,

Sam Hoxie
