To our members – The following links provide ready access to the final presentation on the feasibility study for the proposed middle school on the Rock Creek Local Park site.
The presentation was discussed at a Board of Education meeting on September 22. While three options are presented, only Option One and Option Two are expected to have any realistic possibility for moving forward. The Board Staff says they will be given equal weight.
Option One has some greater possibility of buffering and therefore was favored by most members of our community who have attended the planning sessions. This does not mean that they favored the construction of the school; only that that Option Two was the best of those they otherwise opposed.
The presentation has a list of pros and cons for each option which I urge you to review. It should be noted that the study did not analyze all of the impacts that would result, such as loss of recreational facilities, deforestation, and traffic impacts. However, your review of the options is important because their detail addresses education considerations related to the possible school layouts that will be hard to summarize before the meeting on Monday October 3 at 7:30. You can copy the link and copy it into your browser at the address bar if the hyperlink does not show up in this message. The Staff B o E link is also listed below and you can also copy it into your browser address window. It will take you to the website where all the minutes and presentations for the feasibility study are listed.
Yours truly,
John Robinson
